Relevant Article and comments on British Gangster Film.

This is an article I found on the BFI website.

This article demonstrates that the 'cockney' Gangster stereotype used in many of the films I have previously mentioned including 'Lock stock and two smoking barrels' and 'RocknRolla' both directed by Guy Ritchie are slowly becoming less relevant due to the new urban culture shown in 'Shank' and 'Kidulthood'. The TV series 'Top Boy' has however been cancelled for a third series on Channel 4 which disappoints me, this may be due to the low budget given to British cinema by our government.
The representation of the British Gangster is changing due to cultural influences, does this signify an end to the British Geezer Films.
